Our Mission
The idea of building a contemporary structure dedicated to the Colossus of Rhodes begun to arise in the ideas of some young professionals, after the break out of the economic crisis in Greece. As unemployment rose and destroyed dreams and ambitions of a whole generation, they tried to work together for a common purpose. Their main task was to make Rhodes a new point of reference for the whole world, to follow a new path and find a solution to the issues that caused such a big sorrow to thousands of people, forced to flee abroad.
Economic crisis which, most of all, involved young people

With our work, we try to “put Rhodes again on the world map” and to restore its historical importance as a “cultural bridge” for three continents, attracting huge quantities of visitors every year. We suggest to build a modern construction, not to emulate the original sculpture but in order to give a small, subjective contribution to world history and to the economic growth of Rhodes and Greece. Our target is to create several new job positions and to create a “domino effect” for the local economy. Infact, this project has seen the collaboration of some economy experts. According to their opinion, such a big investment will lengthen the touristic season to a period of 12 months, boosting the economy of the island. It is predicted that there will be a rising of the income of over 2 bilions euros per year. The structure can be finished in 3-4 years, without preventing the boats to access the port. The total expense is about 240-260 milions euros, with a prevision of over 75 milions euros per year in incomes. The financial support won’t lean on the inhabitants. We exhaminated some different options: one of them is being sponsored by important Greek and foreigner institutions. One other consists in the realisation of an international crowfunding campaign. The ones who would join this initiative will see their names forever carved on the leaning columns of the building. Another “tool” of support can be the , which is able to finance a project for a percentage from 50 to 75 %, especially if the project is relevant from a cultural side. The museum will be 150 meters tall and will be a cultural center, a library and, of course, a lighthouse. It has been planned as a completely sustainable architecture and it is energetically autonomus. This new building would give a significant contribution and the citizens of Rhodes would certainly appreciate that. We believe that this is the moment to stop talking and start acting. We can show that people of our age won’t stand still and wait for the storm to pass, but they will face it and go over it together with Greece and Europe.
